Dave “I run everywhere” Keegan made his way over to Hinckley (the only strider) and took part in this undulating half marathon. It was very windy but the rain held off in order for Dave to finish in 1.59.23 coming 358th out of 569 & 5th vet 65! Well done Dave!

Croft Hill Fell Race – 7th May 2014
Dan Siddons entered this tough 4 mile off road race held in Leicestershire on Wednesday night on behalf of the Striders.
He did fantastic winning the race in a time of 23.48. Well done Dan.
Wirksworth 10k Trail Race – Sunday 4th May
I run everywhere Dave Keegan was the only Shelton Strider to enter this 10k trail race. He came 48th out of 72 runners. 2nd vet 60 and got a bottle of wine. It is a lovely course uphill to high peak trail across fields then a run back down the trail past Middleton Top and downhill most of the way to finish . He completed the race in 60.31. Well done Dave

WIRKSWORTH INCLINE
This is a tough 4 mile race with a 2 mile 400ft hill climb to the monument then downhill off road/trail run all the way back down again. This is a short sharp lung buster and is nothing short of painful! Three striders completed this tough challenge, the results as follows:-

PEAT WOOD – DAVE DENTON 20TH APRIL
We had six shelton striders take part in this tough 5 mile off road race with a total of 107 finishing the race.
First in and 3rd overall was Kenny Malton in 32.40 followed by Rob Donald in 4th in a time of 32.50. Alex Buckley was 27th in 38.14, 41st was (we think) Emily Taylor, 98th in 52.07 was Dave Keegan followed in by Chris Donald in 103rd. It was a two lap race in tough conditions so well done everyone!
DAVE DENTON MIDWEEK RACE
A number of runners went to the midweek 1 mile and 5k Dave Denton on Raynesway on Wednesday. In the 1 mile and 19th overall was Ciaran Guilfoyle in 6.06, 22nd was Neil Hancock in 6.14 and 30th in a time of 6.53 PB was Dave Keegan.
In the 5k, Neil Hancock did a time of 19.20 and came 15th overall, Dave Keegan came 34th in 24.02 PB and there were 43 runners in the race overall. Well done team!
LONDON MARATHON – APRIL 13TH 2014
12 Striders ran the London Marathon on a hot Sunday morning. Amongst the 37,000 runners the strider stripes made themselves known. Fantastic results (and blisters!) all round and first in for Shelton in a PB of 2.38.36 was Sam Pearch. Well done Sam as he was 158th overall. Second in for the club was Gareth Brown in 2.58.52 PB, followed by Steven Hawkins in 3.01.50, Marcel Darling in 3.02.41, Steven Pezzutti in 3.07.11, first and only lady strider Julie Warner in 3.18.19, Roger Booth in 3.20.30, Matt West in 3.35.13, Harry Sloan in 3.43.33, Wayne Stevenson (complete with huge blister!!) in 3.49.41, John Thornton in 4.12.14 and Paul Webster 4.36.48. These results are awesome and a HUGE thank you to all the team supporters…oh yes…you were heard!
Manchester Marathon 6th April 2014
Martin Kerr, Dan Siddons and Shaun Cooper winged their way to Manchester to take part in this full marathon. Weather conditions were not the best but despite this, the results were fantastic.
