Wednesday Night Training

Wednesday Training takes place from 6pm – 7pm, for both Darley Park in the Summer and Moorways Track in the Winter. Our Wednesday sessions are ‘Interval Training’ which vary each week, so you get the most out of your training. (e.g. on the track you may do 10 x 400 metres, with recovery in between, the next week could be 5 x 800 metres etc).

You’ll always find lots of friendly, dedicated Striders there every week, on hand to give help and advice to improve your running – so why not give it a try?

All members are welcome to join the sessions, as are non-members/guests who would like to give them a go.

However, there are a few things to note.
* If you have not been to Wednesday night training before (including members) you will need to arrange to have an induction with one of the coaching team in advance of the session. (See contact list) and Summer/Winter Training sections below.
* Non-members/guests must sign-in with the coaching team and provide emergency contact info.

Please try and arrive punctually and be ready to run by 6pm. Latecomers must seek permission of the relevant coach before joining a session.

Training Groups

We have three Training Groups so there’s something for everyone – whether you’re a casual runner or beginner, an experienced runner, or somewhere in between! Here’s how we normally set up the groups:

Group 1:

(Approx sub-20 minute 5k, sub-40 minute 10k)

Suitable for experienced runners, no formal coaching is provided, however one of the group provides a ‘session’ each week. For regular Group 1 runners, we have a WhatsApp group for discussing the training and for any help and advice. There is no formal warm up/cool down so please ensure you allow time for your own.

Group 2:

(Approx sub-25 minute 5k, sub-50 minute 10k)

A coached session for experienced runners who would like help with their training. One of our coaches provides details of the session, normally 1 to 2 days before, via our Club Facebook Group.
This session also includes a structured warm up & cool down, so please allow time for these.

Group 3:

(Approx >25 minute 5k, >50 minute 10k)

This is a coached session suitable for everyone – whether a complete beginner or an experienced runner. One of our coaches will provide a structured warm up, main training session, and cool down.
Please allow time for the warm up/cool down.
