Another of the fantastic things that Parkrun provides is a Christmas Day gathering, a special event in the parkrun calendar. As always its only made possible by the dedication of all the volunteers, so a special thank you to everyone for giving up their time on such a busy day! We had Luke Bremmer again taking on a volunteer role at Alvaston – thanks very much Luke!
T’was another great Striders turnout with 26 of us running at 6 events, with the majority of 19 runners at Alvaston. It looked like a good Striders battle between Matt Bailey & Jamie Atkinson, coming in 10th/11th positions and only 1 second between them! Brian Thomas also had a good run and doubled up as a pacer for Paul James Roome, who was aiming for another sub-20 and got it! Also at Alvaston it’s good to see some names that I think haven’t been there for a while, Stephen Hawkins, Jo Teft & Lee Meakin all enjoying the festivities with their fellow Striders!
Elsewhere we had Amanda & Richard Jackson up in the North East at Redcar, with Charli Land staying local at Beeston. Chris Sharp got another Scottish one under his belt, this time at Victoria Park in Glasgow, Tim & Samantha Spate had their first go at Scunthorpe and I had my first go at the Monsal Trail parkrun! (an out and back along the old railway line – a decline out/incline back – highly recommended!)
