On Sunday, 20 running Striders (plus others supporting) took the relatively short journey to Allestree Park for our 2nd fixture in the Derby/Staffs Cross Country league. Some hadn’t done this course before but had heard from others that it was one of the tougher courses to do! But as you know, Striders love a good challenge, especially when lots of mud, hills (and more importantly, cake) is involved!
The resulting course, once we had mastered the arguably more difficult task of putting our club tent up, was an absolute belter! Yes it was tough, yes it was muddy and yes it was hilly, but we all absolutely loved it! So much so that we ‘happily’ did 2 laps of the flippin thing!
Great performances all round folks! It was such a fun morning, with a real team atmosphere once again – well done everyone! Thank you to our fantastic cake bakers for providing us with very lovely treats at the end and everyone who came along to support us, much appreciated!
If any members fancy having a go at XC and don’t know what’s involved then feel free to post or ask one of us, as the saying goes, the more the merrier! The next fixture is on Sunday 8th January at Anslow near Burton (the day after the County XC event at Markeaton (which some of us might have accidently entered!!!)
