This week was ‘Striders Tourist Parkrun’ week, so we headed off to the lovely Shipley Country Parkrun. We had 11 of us running, plus it was nice to catch up with Richie Wheatcroft (is he the new parkrun ‘Man with No Barcode’?!) and Matt West. Thanks also to Tim Spate and Ben who came down with Sam to cheer us all on :)
It was a special occasion too at Shipley, as it was Jamie Atkinsons’ 250th parkrun! Amanda Wilson kindly baked some lovely cakes to celebrate this and also told the organisers so Jamie got a shout out – Not only that, he also put in a cracking run coming 5th place AND his time was kind of ‘250’ ish (20:50) haha!!! Well done Jamie and everyone for making it a great morning!
Getting PBs’ this week, we had Richard Jackson, Liz Phillips & Amanda Wilson at Shipley, well done all of you!
At Long Eaton, Sally Cartwright smashed her PB, with it being her first ever 5k under 27 minutes, brilliant Sal!!
Jerry Evans also came 1st in his Age Cat M65 at Markeaton with a brilliant 22:58, great run Jerry!
Also the top two Striders at Alvaston were Harry Sloan and Dave Thornton, great running both of you!
Some other tourism going on this week, we had Jonny Branch at Stratford-Upon-Avon getting an excellent 3rd place, and at Peel parkrun in Manchester Matt Glazier had his first run there, well done chaps!

Our final round of the Parkrun Championship at Alvaston is on the 10th December, I’m sure you’ll all agree it’s been a fantastic idea (along with the monthly Tourism trips), brilliantly organised by Charli Land, thanks Charli! It’s been a great way of getting us all together, so hopefully see lots of you there!
