A fantastic sunny morning at the Derby Arena saw lots of Striders running and volunteering at the excellent Derby10 mile race. Starting at the Arena and heading out to Alvaston Park, Thulston & Elvaston before the 3 mile stretch back down the river path.
Cracking performances everyone, with Martin Kerr sneaking in under the hour mark and only 10 mins behind the winner and Derby’s own Olympian Ben Conner! Brilliant run Martin!
We had some Striders getting 10 mile PBs – Liz Phillips, Sally Cartwright and Dan Butcher are the ones I’m aware of – there may have been more! Also well done to Lyndsay Wiles who did her first 10 mile race, and was still smiling on every photo, brilliant!
Well done also to new members Matthew Glazier & Rachel Young, who were running their first race as Striders! Matthew & Rachel both put in great performances, the track training is paying off already! Rachel also did this as part of her build up to her London Marathon charity run for the Alzheimer’s Society, great running and well done!
Our amazing volunteers, keeping it all running smoothly were (sorry I’m bound to have missed some) Steve Cartwright, Alex Hall, Stephen Wells, Eamonn Hughes, Paul Webster, Neil Realey, Amanda Wilson, Catherine Clifford, Ian Crompton. Thanks also to all the Striders out on the course supporting us too and taking pics, much appreciated all of you!

Over at Shipley Park we also had Chris Halliday running in the Heanor Pudding Run 10k in 55:27 and Andrew Lucas did the fun run with his son Henry, well done all of you, here’s Andrew and Henry looking like they’ve enjoyed themselves! Well done all of you!
