Last night we had a fantastic evening with 23 Striders running at the Tara Kinder Memorial 10k, at Elvaston Castle. It’s always a great socialising event, and last night didn’t disappoint! We had great marshalling & support from Eamonn & Kate Hughes, Gail Thompson, Sally Cartwright, Patrick Munro, Steve Oliver, Dave Keegan, Dan & Lyndsay Butcher, Paul Pearce… the list goes on I think, sorry to anyone I’ve missed! Thanks all of you, the support is always very much appreciated!
The weather conditions were ideal for running too, so we saw some incredibly quick times! Firstly Congratulations to Martin Kerr whose form this year has been top notch, he came in 7th position overall and has again smashed the Club Record for MV40 with a time of 34:16 (knocking over a minute off his previous record!) Incredible running Martin, well done! Very close behind him were Jonny Branch & Andy MacEwen both within the top 15 places in a very strong field!
We had lots of other great performances too, Sam Pearch & Matt Bailey both under 39 & 40 mins, with Matts being the day after he’d done the JCB 5 too, amazing!
Hazel Baxter also knocked a massive 4 mins off her PB! It’s great to see Louise Hart back out racing again and Amanda Wilson ‘left it all out there’ and finished really strongly, though just like an elite runner, she nearly had to reach for the bucket at the end :) Tim Stokes was on hand to make sure she was ok, this was after he’d done a sub 50 for the first time in a couple of years!
Well done each and every one of you, for the performances and for making it such a great evening, it was a lovely team atmosphere once again :)
