Then last night we had a beautiful summer evening for the Tara Kinder Memorial 10k. This is a great local race, which always gets a good turnout. We had 15 Striders running and lots volunteering (marshalling, organising the marshalls, safety biking plus others I’m sure) as well as lots of other Striders out on the course supporting! So thank you very much to every one of you, sorry there’s too many to name!

Now the race…. wow what a determined bunch you are! Even in the heat we had remarkable results, including Martin Kerr & Paul Pearce battling it out up top, with some other very strong runners, and coming 5th and 7th! I’m not sure what Martin’s PB is but what an amazing run, and Paul definitely got his PB with a fantastic sub-36, brilliant running both of you! We also had Matt Bailey come in 1st in his category, brill!  Great performances all round, Liz Phillips took it steady for the first half ish but then put her foot down a bit and came in under 50 mins and 2nd in her category, which is impressive!

Something to note – I’ve left Andy Gallimore in as he was a Strider when he entered and will always be a friend of ours, well done Andy!

Unfortunately we did have Tim Bentley pick up a knee injury during the race, which is very disappointing for him, but he still managed to finish in a decent time and fingers crossed it will soon recover and you’ll be back out there again!

Well done everyone for making it such a great evening. I’ll leave you with a pic I took of Paul Phillips, smiles all round even on his 3rd lap, which perfectly captures our club ethos I think, well done Paul (it was a smile and not a grimace, right!?! ) :D
