At the weekend we had a swelteringly hot Saturday morning and 36 Striders running at 6 events! We also had Jerry Evans, Charli Land and Dave Sullivan all volunteering at Alvaston – thanks folks!
It was yet again time for our Striders Parkrun Championship at Alvaston, and we had a fantastic turnout of 30 runners! Topping the Striders pile this time it was Liam Regan, in 4th place overall and who is creeping ever closer to his PB again. Andy Miller had a good run too, in 8th pos and 1st in his Age Cat! We also had Paul Webster coming 1st in his Age Cat! Well done all of you! Special mention too for Kate Hughes who has begun running again and did her 1st parkrun for a while, whilst being joined and encouraged by her sis Lyndsay Wiles, well done ladies!
Tourist of the Week has to go to Sam Kitchen, whilst in Italy he took on the Mura di Lucca which is fairly close to Pisa! Daniel Butcher was back up in Sunderland and did Silksworth parkrun, while Hazel Baxter was just south of Stoke for her first go at Trentham. Richie Wheatcroft is going well on the shorter distances recently and had his first go at Long Eaton, with Paul Pearce only 7 places behind Team GB elite Sam Harrison who was preparing for her up coming World Half Marathon Championships :D
