This week we had 22 Striders running at 4 parkruns, with Dave Keegan, Ian Crompton, Ray Evans & Rob Higson all volunteering at Alvaston – thanks very much for your help folks!
While we’re on the subject of Alvaston, I never thought I’d see the day when, as we lined up on the start line, a dinosaur casually wandered over to join in! I bet anyone who went out Friday night, wondered if their drinks had been spiked! Dino was a popular competitor with the kids (and big kids!), good of them to take time out of the Fun Fair to do the parkrun :)
We had some excellent distance-tourism this week with Sally Cartwright way down in Southampton to do her first parkrun there, and also met up with Mark and Sue who used to be Striders :)
Up at the other end of the country, Kenny Malton & Rach Farrow were up in Kennys homeland at Perth – with Rach doing her first parkrun there!
Pointless Parkrun fact: If you drove the scenic route along the North East coast, there would be a distance of exactly 500 miles between Sally in Southampton and Kenny & Rach in Perth! Just an 8.5 hour drive, but all of them synced up and running at 9am on a Saturday morning, don’t you just love parkrun :)
Well done as ever folks! Remember next weekend we have our Striders Tourist trip, the relatively short journey to Conkers! I’m hoping to make it down, it would be great to see lots of Blue & White there :)
