Nick Lees – Talk night 1st March 2019

Everyone is welcome but please be prepared to make a small (or large if you like) donation.

Nick Lees was an athlete for Derby AC in the 1970/ 80/ 90’s and was certainly one of the best the county, midlands, Britain had seen.

He still holds a number of records at Derby AC, 2:16 marathon, 2 titles at World cross country championships just some achievements to mention.

3 people inspired me to start running – my parents and Nick Lees, I was 12 years old when I saw him race for the first time. He won that day, from that moment I decided I wanted to do the same as him.

Last year Nick struggled with his health mentally and became quite ill, recently he noticed a gap where mental support isn’t reaching some people.

He has set about to change this by offering talks within clubs, schools, colleges, etc.

This talk will be his first one and hopefully the start of change and to help others.

Itinerary for the night

Announcements will be at 7:15pm

Talk 7:30pm start and for roughly 30 mins

The club run will still take place but from 6:45pm or earlier to be back in time for the announcements.

Nick is asking for a token donation on the night which he will then donate to a Mental Health Charity. He will hang around after if you wish to talk to him personally

This is certainly not to be missed, so come a long and listen to someone who has seen a lot and inspired many.
