This week we had 28 Striders taking part across 7 different parkruns.
At Alvaston, just a few hours after leading the fast group out on the Friday social run (thanks Rich!), Rich Tissington continued his run of fine form with a 20:07, and Sally Cartwright finished strong (flying past me on the final straight) to smash her goal of sub 28 and record 27:11.
Paul Webster has obviously passed the running bug on to his family as his daughter and grandson both took part at Alvaston alongside him, with Theo, at just 13, finishing in an amazing 3rd place in 17:40 and only 13 seconds behind the first finisher!
Away from the Derby events, Christopher Sharp and Gloria Lagou took on Colwick parkrun, Stephen Hawkins was at Torbay Velopark, Naimah Hameed was at Conkers, Matthew Glazier was at Swansea Bay, and Paul Roome was at Wollaton Hall.
It’s always tricky for parkrun to fill volunteer spots at this time of year with so many people away on holiday and it was a last minute scramble at Alvaston this week, so it was great to see Striders stepping up to support, with Steve Cartwright on timekeeping and Pascale Holden marshalling.
