Cross Country (XC)

During the winter months, Shelton Striders take part in the Derby Runner Cross Country league.
For the coming season which kicks off 2nd November 2025, we will again be taking part in the Derbyshire/Staffordshire league.

For anyone new to the Club or anyone who’s not done XC before, I can’t emphasise enough, how good for your training it is! I mean all the top elites (Keely Hodgkinson, Mo Farah etc) have spent many many hours in the mud at XC – it builds strength, endurance, mental toughness, and with it being a team event it has a real sense of camaraderie, everyone in it together, and everyones result helps the team!

It’s really cheap to enter (usually between £5-£7) and you don’t have to be a fast runner! Just turning up and joining in would make us proud of you, and you’ll get great support from all of your team mates!
