This week we had 27 Striders running at 8 events, with Dave Keegan volunteering at Long Eaton, Steve Cartwright (and an energetic Poppy barking her support to the runners!), Margaret Cowling, Ian Crompton, Eamonn Hughes, Lyndsay Wiles, and myself all volunteering at Alvaston – thanks very much all of you!
It was a special day at Alvaston as the ladies course record was broken by Daisy Glover in 16:45, (taking the record away from GB elite Lily Partridge) wow! Daisy is from Ipswich and was over for the Derby v Ipswich match (least said about that the better!). Brilliant to see the record being broken in such style as Daisy had to dig in and hold off close challenges by the others up top. Inspired by this, Steve Randle also really dug deep and got his course PB! Meanwhile over at Markeaton Martin Kerr got another 1st place!
We also had some really good tourism going on, with Charli Land & Rich Jackson having their first go at Gedling, Hazel Baxter at Rutland Water & Amanda Wilson doing her 73rd parkrun location at Pavillion Gardens in Buxton!
