Perfect conditions for running yesterday, some of us at Alvaston were treated to a beautiful sunrise across Alvaston lake whilst warming up/setting up for our weekly parkrun fix. In total, we had 40 Striders at 4 different events, the vast majority split between Alvaston & Markeaton (24 & 14 respectively). Thanks as ever to all of the volunteers making it happen, Striders-wise we had Jamie Atkinson, Anna Hagan-Pearce, Pascale Holden & Leo Pickford at Alvaston and Ian Bell at Markeaton!
Congratulations to Simon Goodall who absolutely smashed his PB by 40 seconds – which also took him under 22 minutes! That’s fantastic Simon and well done to Pascale who again helped out by guiding Simon – brilliant work both of you!
The PBs didn’t end there at Alvaston, with Eamonn Hughes running his fastest time since 2019 and getting his Alvaston PB! Well done Eamonn and to Matt Henning too, who ran with him to help him out! Also at Alvaston, Liz Phillips knocked a few more seconds off her Club Record FV55, and Paul Pearce had another cracking run at the top end, getting yet another sub-18 under his belt! A great morning – it was so good to see loads of smiling Striders there yesterday :D
Elsewhere Hazel Baxter did another new one by visiting Poolsbrook near Chesterfield and Richie Wheatcroft came in 4th place at his local parkrun Shipley – well done folks! :)
Great work everyone – remember it’s our Striders tourist parkrun at Rushcliffe next Saturday, I won’t see you there this time, so Happy Christmas to you all, I hope it’s a good one!
