It was Dovedale Dash time once again in Thorpe today! With recent rain threatening cancellation, but thankfully not, the 1200 finishers from all over the Country, were treated to lots of mud, some lovely cold river Dove wading, plenty of ups n downs, but most importantly of all – lots of fun! (oh and plenty of wheel spinning and cars being pushed in the car park field!). It reminded me what a fantastic event this really is, now in it’s 64th year having started in 1953! Organised by the wonderful locals of Thorpe, with people of all ages just getting out there and ‘having a go’! :D
We – Eamonn Hughes, Lyndsay Wiles, Kate Hughes and myself – certainly had plenty of fun! It was the first time Lyndsay had done the Dash and her first real off roader since school days! Everyone did really well, getting round thankfully unscathed (amazingly Lyndsay doing this without the soles of both her trainers, which decided to fall off part way through!!!!). We also had our superb cheerleader Kate giving everyone lots of support and picture taking on ‘that’ final hill! Thanks Kate! :D
It was a really great day and a perfect warm up for our upcoming XC winter series (I think Lyndsay might even try some!), can’t wait! :D
