A bit of a change for local parkrunners this week as both Markeaton and Long Eaton were cancelled due to other events. This and the fact that the fantastic Derby Ramathon was the next day kept the numbers down a little, but we still had 22 Striders out running at 3 events, and Luke Bremmer volunteering at Alvaston, cheers Luke!
Amanda Wilson went out on a tourist trip to Coventry for her first run on that course, whilst Martin Kerr shifted to Alvaston for a week and was rewarded with a fantastic 1st place and PB! – But not only this he held off the excellent City of Hull AC and GB orienteer runner Charlotte Ward, who also got her PB but was 8 secs behind, well done Martin much deserved mate!
Up at Ashbourne Chris Halliday, Neil Hancock and Paul Phillips all had their first go at that course, David Green & Liz Phillips returned there with Liz doing a nice steady pre Ramathon one too (2 halves in 2 weeks for her, blimey!) We look forward to trying the Ashbourne course out next week for our next Striders Tourist trip!
Well done folks and the very best of luck to all of you running the Ramathon today, hopefully I will see you on the course somewhere, look out for some other Striders cheering you too! Try to enjoy it, keep well hydrated and remember the Striders saying (especially on that tough river path section!) ‘Smiles eat miles!’ :-D
