Five Striders today took on what would end up being an historic day for the Nottingham 10k. It was the first time that a lady has won this race, so first and foremost a big congratulations to Charnwood AC (and Team GB) runner Gemma Steel, fantastic!
It was also a historic day for other reasons too. As up stepped our Team of Striders with Paul Pearce hot on Gemma’s heels finishing in 6th place and only 2.5 mins behind her, wow! For his efforts, Paul also came 1st in his age category, brilliant run mate!
Not to be outdone, Liz Phillips carried on her amazing form and also came 1st in her age category and 18th lady! Fantastic running Liz!
By all accounts it was a very tough race with lots of hills, especially an evil hill finish! All that in 20 degree heat too, so well done to all of you for representing Striders and Derby in ‘enemy’ territory! ;)
