On yesterdays sunny Saturday morning 35 Striders made the most of it and headed out Parkrunning across 5 events :)
12 of us Striders Tourists took on Dishley Parkrun in Loughborough – it was the first time here for most and we enjoyed a warm welcome from the locals, and a grassy/trail path run with nice sections along the canal and River Soar, followed by our customary coffee and chin-wag! Tim Bentley completely destroyed his old PB for this course by approximately 10 mins! Well done Tim! It was also great to see new members Richard Jackson and Christopher Halliday there, both coming in with excellent times and Christopher getting a PB – especially as he was saving himself for the Buxton Half today – good luck mate! Lindsay Wiles also had her first Tourist trip as a Strider, great to see you Lindsay!

Elsewhere in Parkrun-land, a strong top ten at Markeaton saw Martin Kerr just pipped to 1st place but in an excellent time, only 5 secs off his PB. Jamie Atkinson continued his great performances in 10th place, well done!
At Alvaston another strong field gave Paul Pearce a good test but he still managed 3rd place, well done mate! Lyndsay Butcher, still buzzing from Sunderland finally getting promotion again, got a PB! As did Paul Webster on his latest training session! Well done all of you!
At Long Eaton Luke Inglis just sneaked in a nice sub-20 and Gerrard Moss celebrated his Striders ‘London Marathon Ballott’ success with an age-grade of 83.13% brilliant – well done lads!
Finally at Ashbourne, Liz Phillips, having recovered from carrying her trophy haul home the previous night, checked out this new course for us before heading off to work. Well done Liz, sounds like a good one to do!
As luck would have it, later that morning Charli’s ‘Parkrun Tourist wheel’ gave us our next trip as Ashbourne! We’ll look forward to that one on 25th June!
