This event is one that runs 8 events simultaneously but the format of each is pretty much the same with terrain, distance and experience governing which to choose.
Richard Green and Emma Roe chose to do the Wansfell event.
WANSFELL CLASS (Team Event)
Winning time 7-8 hours total. The Wansfell is designed as a shorter alternative to the Harter Fell. This is the course to enter if you have no previous experience of Mountain Marathons. Participants must have good hill experience and proven navigational skills Entrants must be over 14.
As luck would have, they are both over 14. And they also qualified as Veterans.
Saturday saw their finish time of 06:14:24 which left them in 26th place on the day. They then overnighted under the stars before Sunday’s stint that they completed in 04:35:24 and 23rd on the day giving them a a total time of 10:49:48 and 24th overall. In the vet’s competition their handicap reduced their time to 09:31:49 and 7th among the oldies.
