Firstly we have 2 amendments to previous results. Naimah Hameed was the second Strider to complete the Derby Running Festival Half at Elvaston, in a time of 2:21:26. Dave Keegan also completed Wilne 10k in a time of 1:22:04. Apologies for missing both of you off the results – great running.
Friday evening was a lovely sunny evening with a gentle breeze at Darley Park where the second Lyra Hope 5 run was held. This charity event is held in memory of Lyra who was sadly still born and raises money for the Royal Derby Hospital Labour Ward. 10 Striders took part in both the 5k and 5 mile option. 3 Striders traveled north to take on the largest race in the country – The Great North Run. Denise Robertson, Lyndsay Butcher and Dave Sullivan completed the soggy 13.1 miles – well done.
Sally Cartwright was also competing in a half marathon, but this time at the Cheshire Half. Great running Sally.
