A few hours of glorious spring sunshine were most welcome yesterday for the 27 Striders running and 4 volunteering at parkrun, it wasn’t long before we were back to the rain again! Thanks for volunteering Dave Keegan, Denise Robertson (& Ruby) at Alvaston and Sue Kinross & Tim Stokes at Markeaton!
While we’re on the subject of Markeaton, it was celebration time for Amanda Wilsons 200th Parkrun (at 86 different locations!) with lots of Striders & friends coming together to help her celebrate it – fantastic achievement Amanda, glad you all had a fun morning!
Just one PB yesterday, for Chris Sharp at Alvaston, with a cracking run, sandwiched between Striders too – good to see Dave Thornton & Harry Sloan on the results, with Harry getting the highest Age Grade of 78.79% this week! Very close on Age Grade was Pascale Holden with 78.49%, which also gave her 1st in Age Cat! Well done all of you!
Out and about tourist-ing this week, we had Paul Roome having his first bash at Bestwood Village in Notts, Amanda Jackson again up at The Cinder Track in Whitby, and I had my first go at Sence Valley in Leics/National Forest – just a note on that – well worth a go if you love your XC, it’s approx half gravel paths, and yesterday half ankle deep mud! It was a great atmosphere, beautiful in the sun, with only 37 runners and 18 volunteers cheering us on (stood in their wellies!) :D
