Parkrun Results – 9th March 2024

It was our Striders Alvaston Parkrun Championship again this week, and we had a good turnout for it – 19 running and 3 volunteering – Ian Crompton, Rob Higson & myself – thanks for the support chaps!

Well done to David Green, who we’ve seen chipping away on his speed work in recent weeks, putting some great sessions in at the track. He was rewarded today with a PB, in fact he was the only Strider with a PB at Alvaston (bonus points!!). Great run Dave, well deserved :)

I notice Steve Randle’s starting to bring those times down again and Margaret Cowling got the highest Striders Age Grade too! We also have a brilliant head to head starting to develop with Sally Cartwright & Lyndsay Wiles, with Lyndsay making Sally work hard today to get her nose ahead! Great running all of you!

Elsewhere, at Markeaton I didn’t expect to see Marcel Darling heading up the Striders contingent today, good see you Parkrunning again Marcel!

We also had familiar tourist names on the results, albeit a bit closer to home this week :) – Tim Stokes, Hazel Baxter & Amanda Wilson all having their first go at Babbs Mill, which is down near Coleshill. Hope you all had fun, looks a good course around the lake!

Chris Sharp also kept up his great tourist streak, with a trip to Bramshall Road in Uttoxeter – another new one for him! Paul Roome followed up his excellent tempo training run yesterday, with a fast parkrun at Tamworth Castle Grounds – going really well Paul!

The next instalment of our Striders tourist parkrun will be another attempt to do Watermead Country Parkrun on 23rd March (after the previous event was flooded!).
