It was once again time for our Striders Parkrun Championship at Alvaston this week, but not before a moving one minute silence for Remembrance weekend, well done everyone involved.
We had 31 Striders running at Alvaston, and we also had Anna Pearce-Hagan tail walking and Karen Whitton marshalling with her son Lachlan – thanks very much all of you!
Congratulations to Liz Phillips who knocked over a minute off her previous Club Record for FV55, great running Liz!
Also, well done to Henry Lucas & Sue Kinross for both getting PBs at Alvaston today. Henry really had to dig in – I noticed he made up some good ground on the final half a mile, closing the gap on his pacer-Dad Andy, brilliant run Henry and to Sue for getting her PB yet again! Great turnout once again at this Striders event, it was lovely to see the Blue and White vests & shirts everywhere. Thanks to Eamonn Hughes & Amanda Wilson for their brill pics again and Charli Land for her support on the course :D
Elsewhere we had another 8 Striders parkrunning, with Rob Higson back in his home town and having a first go at Tamworth Castle ground Parkrun. Chris Sharp also had his first go down in Oxford, and the remaining 6 Striders were at Markeaton, where both Hannah & Sally Cartwright both got PBs – well done ladies!!
Our Striders Tourist Spinner has been spun again, thanks Charli! This month we’re off to the beautiful Wollaton Hall Parkrun on 25th November! For anyone that’s not done it before – try and come down, it’s a fantastic, albeit challenging course, in the grounds of the Hall. It has a really good, fast downward home straight that is a lovely reward for all of the hard work! Let’s try and get a lot of us to this one as it’s not too far to travel :D
