This weekend we had 30 Striders running at 6 different parkruns. It was also parkrun tourist week and 8 of us made the trip over to Dishley parkrun in Loughborough on what turned out to be a beautiful morning for a run around the trails of Dishley pool.
Steve Cartwright was celebrating running his 50th parkrun and we know Steve has been looking forward to this one for a while due to Dishley’s reputation for an ‘epic’ sausage and bacon cob. Congrats on reaching your parkrun milestone Steve, here’s to the next 50 and hopefully the well earned cob lived up to expectations!
In addition to Charlie Land’s amazing efforts in organising the parkrun championship and tourist events for us, her efforts on the trails this week also earned her a course PB beating her previous time by 34 seconds. Jamie Atkinson also ran a course pb to finish 4th, and Dishley first timer Paul Webster made his mark finishing top in the VM70-74 age category. Great running everyone.
With Alvaston cancelled there was a great Striders turnout at Markeaton Park with 18 runners taking part and producing some brilliant results with Martin Kerr, Liam Regan and Paul Pearce all finishing in the top 5, with Martin and Liam coming first in their age categories alongside Kenny Malton and Ian Bell.
Elsewhere, Dave Keegan ran at Long Eaton, David Green was out on the East Coast at Sewerby, Chris Halliday was at Market Bosworth, and Richie Wheatcroft dipped just under 22 minutes at Shipley Parkrun to secure a new PB.
