This week we had 38 parkrunning Striders at 8 different events, with Karen Whitton and her son Lachlan doing a great job marshalling and cheering us on at Alvaston, thanks very much both of you! :)
It was a PB frenzy at some of our ‘local’ parkruns this week! Luke Inglis got his at Shipley, Hannah Cartwright is getting faster all the time and got hers at Markeaton, Hazel Baxter got hers at Beeston, and Alvaston saw Brian Thomas, James Realey and Lyndsay Wiles all get theirs! Well done all of you, cracking running and very well deserved!
Also at Alvaston, Henry Lucas (with Dad Andy) clocked up his 10th Parkrun! Well done Henry you’re running really well every week! Paul Pearce also got 2nd place at Alvaston, and achieved a significant milestone, getting back to sub-18 once again! Brilliant mate, it was also nice to see Ana back parkrunning again :)
Tourists this week were Chris Halliday at Barnsley & Paul Roome at Sutton Park, both having their first go at those courses :)
We also had Amanda Wilson and Jamie Atkinson at Chasewater (Near Burntwood & Lichfield) it was a new one for both of them (Jamie came 2nd place too!) and it was Amanda’s 76th parkrun location. Sadly though, Amanda fell midway through and has fractured her elbow and has a nasty bump on her head, but somehow she still finished the parkrun, that’s true runner determination! Amanda said the marshal and other runners were lovely and helped her up. Really sorry to hear this Amanda, take care of yourself – wishing you a very speedy recovery x
It’s our next Striders Tourist Trip next Saturday – this time it’s back to Dishley near Loughborough, which we have done previously, so hoping to see some more PBs next week, no pressure!!! :)
