It was a nice warm Saturday morning for the latest round of our Striders Parkrun Championship at Alvaston, where we had a fantastic 25 runners out of our total 30 for this week! We also had Sally Cartwright, Ian Crompton, Jerry Evans, Louise Hart, Pascale Holden, Amanda Jackson, David Keegan, Paul Phillips all volunteering – thanks very much all!
Well done to Liz Phillips who celebrated her birthday this week and with it broke the FV55 5k Club Record! A Happy Birthday indeed Liz!
A cracking run from Rob Higson saw him as 1st Strider home and getting back to sub-20, breaking his course record in the process (and only 5 secs off his overall PB! Brill!). The PBs didn’t end there, with Steve Randle & Hannah Cartwright both getting theirs! Jamie Atkinson also popped over to Ashbourne and get 2nd place and a course PB! Well done all!
We also had our young Striders out in force at Alvaston, with Henry Lucas putting in another great run and Dad Andy Lucas, ‘encouraging’ him to not slow down when it got tough :D
We had another little run from Ben with Mum Sam James, whilst Dad Tim Spate ran buggy-free.
It was all go in the Farrow-Malton household, with young Finlay deciding to have a bit of a lie in, meaning Dad Kenny was 10 mins late starting his buggy pushing parkrun, hence the unusual time for Kenny. Thanks to Mum Rachel Farrow for supporting everyone running, with little Edith sound asleep :D
Out doing their tourist thing this week we had Charli Land & Rich Jackson over in Northern Ireland at Derrynoid Forest, which looks amazing, only 25 runners and 9 volunteers, bet that was lovely :D
Elsewhere down in Leicestershire, Hazel Baxter was at the beautiful Rutland Water and Chris Halliday had his first go at Beacon Hill!
