A mere 12 hours after the brilliant Tara Kinder Memorial 10k race, many of the runners and volunteers were back out at Alvaston for our Striders Parkrun Championship fixture – great dedication folks! Out of a total of 28 runners, 21 of these were at Alvaston, so a great turnout! Thanks very much also to Steve Cartwright, Louise Hart, Dave Keegan & Angela Monk for doing a brilliant job volunteering and once again to Eammon Hughes for his brill pics!
Some great performances yet again, none more so than Henry Lucas who once again got his PB! Well done Henry it was nice to see you there with Dad Andy Lucas :). A warm welcome too to one of our new Members Clare Burgess, who was at Alvaston – Clare recently joined and has been training at Darley Park with us on Wednesday evenings, great to see you!
It was also fantastic to see our youngest generation of Striders at Alvaston, with Sam James doing a little run around part of the course with Ben in his favourite blue & white striped t-shirt, while Dad Tim Spate put in a cracking buggy-free parkrun! Congratulations to Rachel Farrow, Kenny Malton & Finlay, who only 5 days before welcomed a beautiful baby girl to the world (name still to be confirmed :) ). That has to be the youngest ever Striders appearance at a Parkrun!! :D. So pleased for you all, glad you’re doing well it was lovely to see you all :)
A great morning was also capped by Amanda Jackson bringing lovely home made cakes for our hungry Striders, thanks very much Amanda much appreciated!
Elsewhere in Parkrun-world, Luke Inglis made a return visit to Shipley, only a week after his first there and put it a sub-22, PB performance, well done Luke! At Markeaton, Martin Kerr took 2nd place due only to the fact that a first timer from Sutton & District AC did it in an eye-watering 15:49, wow!
Up in Leeds Liam Regan came 3rd at Temple Newsam, Naimah Hameed was way down near Bodmin at Lanhydrock and closer to home, Liz Phillips was at Ashbourne Rec – well done all of you!
Remember we have our next Striders Tourist Trip on 29th July, this time out to Bramshall Road parkrun in Uttoxeter, which will be a new one for most people I expect, hope lots of you can make it!
