It was a warm & humid morning for our latest Striders Tourist Trip – this month we were up at Sutton in Ashfield for the Brierley Forest parkrun – a really nice course, 2 laps & slightly undulating, on paths through the beautiful forest.
We had a great turnout – 14 Striders running and Sarah Bentley cheering us all on, thanks Sarah! Well done to Jamie Atkinson for getting 3rd place and his course PB, not easy in that heat! It was the first time there for the majority of us and was another great team atmosphere – we sat outside for a coffee and catch up afterwards, very nice :) and thanks very much to Charli Land for organising & Eamonn Hughes for his cracking pictures once again!
Elsewhere we had 13 Striders at Alvaston (a few of which could be found on the new ‘Striders Bench’ !!) with Paul Pearce getting 6th place and Liz Phillips and Ray Evans providing support by volunteering – thanks both of you and well done Paul!
At Markeaton Henry Lucas had his first go at the course with Dad Andy, hope you enjoyed it both of you and the hill wasn’t too tough!
We also had Striders out and about doing their tourist thing – Matt Glazier having a first go at Conkers and Chris Halliday got his PB at Conwy! Samantha James, Tim Spate & Ben were over at Weston-Super-Mare for the Marine Parade parkrun, it looks a great course, all along the promenade and passing the Grand Pier – fantastic! I’m tempted to try that one sometime!
Well done everyone! Also just a reminder, on the 8th July lots of us are heading over to Shipley Parkrun to try and help them break their attendance record! Hopefully we can get lots of Blue & White there to give their numbers a boost! The following week we then have the next Striders Parkrun Championship fixture at Alvaston :)
