This weekend it was again time for our Striders Tourist trip – this time to a new one for most of us, Colwick Parkrun! Found in the depths of Nottingham, we had to drive past Trent Bridge Cricket ground, Notts County’s ground and close to another little building with red on it! ;)
The drive was well worth it though as we were rewarded with a lovely parkrun which takes in the lakes of the large Colwick Country park – well worth a visit! The Striders here were Chris Halliday (who got a PB – knocking a massive 1 min 40 off his previous best, nicely done Chris!) and first timers Jerry Evans, me, Tim Spate, Sam James & their Strider super fan son Ben!
We had a really good morning, it was warm and muggy for the run, but a nice flat one with trail sections and lovely views across the lakes. Unfortunately Tim & Sam had a bit of a navigational mishap just before the start (it is a BIG park!), meaning their times are all approx 10 mins longer than they should have been, Tim said they’ll make a return sometime to put this right :)
Elsewhere, we had another 18 Striders running at 5 other parkruns. At Alvaston Pascale Holden, Dave Keegan and Ray Evans all volunteered, so thanks for that folks! We also had Ian Crompton heading up another 4 runners there :)
Martin Kerr took the top spot once again at Markeaton (wonder how many 1st places he’s had now?) Well done mate! Amanda Wilson added another new one, Hampstead Heath to her tourist list. Luke Inglis had another decent run at Long Eaton, getting close to that sub-20 again, he was joined there by Lyndsay Wiles and Eamonn Hughes who stayed local so they could get off to Wollaton Park for a fun family day at the Splendour Fest!
At Beeston, Richard Jackson was joined by Sally Cartwright who yet again managed another PB, Well done Sal that’s brilliant!
Another great Parkrunning Saturday! Remember next week, we have a Striders Takeover at Alvaston Parkrun, where Striders do all of the volunteering for that day. If you’d like to help out please contact Pascale Holden, thanks in advance! :)
