Only 12 hours after the brilliant evening at the Hairy Helmet Relay, 40 eager Striders were back out parkrunning, some of them (no names mentioned) were in, ahem, their ‘re-cycled’ kit, haha! (though it’s not been confirmed if rumours of sleeping in them were true!).
5 of these lovely Striders were helping to make it happen by volunteering at Alvaston Parkrun for our latest Championship fixture, so thank you very much to David Green, Louise Hart, Liz Phillips, Paul Phillips & Sean Phillips!
Those of us at Alvaston were lucky enough to be running ‘with’ (ok, quite far behind) Team GB elite Lily Partridge, which was fantastic! Lily did it in 16:57!
We had 25 runners at Alvaston, Matt Bailey coming in an excellent 4th place (only 9 seconds off his PB), the elusive Mr ‘Unknown’ Shaun Cooper in 5th place (18:52), Andrew Miller equalled his PB in 11th!
Brian Thomas continued his brilliant comeback by getting another course PB, Chris Halliday & Lyndsay Butcher also got PBs too! Fantastic running folks, especially after the Hairy Helmet (and a long shift at work for Chris!)
At other Parkruns, Jamie Atkinson did an excellent, post-Hairy Helmet 19:35 at Markeaton, Sally Cartwright got yet another PB at Long Eaton and James Cunningham had his first blast around the lovely Beeston course.
Well done all of you, it was brilliant to see so many doing both the Hairy Helmet and Parkrun so soon afterwards, I hope you’re all recovering well now on your Sunday morning! (knowing you lot you’ll all be out doing long runs or recovery cycling!!)
Remember we’ve got our next ‘away’ Tourist fixture at Ashbourne Rec Parkrun on the 25th, I’m looking forward to trying another new course!
