The fact that Derby 10k was the day after didn’t deter 23 Striders running Parkrun this weekend, with 22 of them at Alvaston for our latest fixture in the Parkrun championships and Martin Kerr going solo and first placed again at Markeaton! We also had 5 fantastic volunteers and one Striders photographer at Alvaston, so thank you Neil Barnes, Sally Cartwright, Margaret Cowling, David Green, Louise Hart and Steve Cartwright!
A fantastic run from Jonny Branch at Alvaston clinched 1st place overall! (the 1st time he’s done this), with a massive 1 min 12 lead over 2nd place – brilliant Jonny well done!
If this wasn’t enough fun for us all, we also had a celebration for Daniel Butchers 40th birthday weekend, where he and Lyndsay brought some delicious ‘Striders-themed’ cakes!! Thank you both they were lovely, very best Birthday wishes for Monday Daniel!
