London Ballot – for 2020 places

The allocation of places for the 2020 VLM is running to a slightly different timetable this year. It opens a week earlier

The club ballot for places in the London Marathon is open. In order to qualify for inclusion you must meet the following conditions:-

1) You must have been a fully paid up EA affiliated (competitive membership) member of Shelton Striders for the past year.
2) You must have entered and been rejected from the 2020 Virgin London Marathon standard public ballot and be able to produce evidence of this (keep your rejection slip/email)
3) You must have taken part in at least 10 of the following types of club events between 22nd October 2018 and 21st October 2019:

i. Club Championship or Headbangers Championship races
ii. Cross Country league races
iii. National or Regional Cross Country championship races
iv. Club Handicap races
v. Relays representing Shelton Striders
vi. Supporting (marshalling/coaching/pacing etc.) at club events will also count towards qualifying
vii. If you have assisted with the C25k training this year you may include that for one point.

4) You must not have won a place in the club ballot for either of the past 2 years

Provided we have official confirmation of our allocation by then, I would like to hold the draw on Friday 22nd November at club before our usual social run. You don’t have to be present on the night of the ballot (though it would be nice to see you!). All evidence will be checked following the draw.

To enter, just drop me an email at gerrymayf1955@gmail.com. with your name, contact phone number and email address by November 8th, I’ll confirm your entry into the ballot the week before the draw. Even if you’re not usually the lucky type please consider entering – you stand a good chance!

We expect to have only one place.

The winner(s) of the ballot will be eligible to enter the 2020 London Marathon, though note you will still need to pay for your own entry and enter the Marathon online.

Good luck all
