Starting this week’s round up with another update, and another PB for Stephen Watson at the Great North Run – 1:33:15. Stephen recently joined us, so the Striders magic is obviously working.
Now to Parkrun. Back to normal with high numbers completing Parkrun – unfortunately probably means summer holidays are over for most. 40 Striders graced 6 different courses with a huge 33 attending Alvaston. This Parkrun saw several noticeable milestones. Jethro Holden smashed his PB taking 3:21 off his previous to clock 23:09. Erin Hughes did likewise to go sub 3o, achieving 29:55, an improvement of 2:04. Richard Tissington set his V50 PB with a time of 19:31. Not only is it a PB, but it’s the first time Rich has gone sub 20 at Alvaston since August 2021! Final milestone is Ben Spate. Although not actually a Strider yet, Ben completed his first ever Parkrun at Alvaston in a time of 44:31.
We also had 6 first timers this week. James Really visited Woodhouse Moor Parkrun in Leeds, Chris Sharp and Gloria Lagou were at Lincoln Parkrun, Paul James Roome was at Concord Parkrun in Sheffield and finally Sally and Steve Cartwright visited Gedling.
Well done to everyone who took part in any way at Parkrun this week. Even though I don’t mention volunteers, you are all vital to the running of all Parkruns – so a big thank you.
