The long Platinum Jubilee weekend saw 34 Striders making the most of it and heading out Parkrunning across 9 events, with some great tourist trips!
South of Birmingham, at Arrow Valley Country park, Christopher Halliday crept ever closer to his sub-20 aim with his first run there. Just north of Bridlington, David Green did his first at Sewerby which looks a lovely course along the coast – I’m guessing a tad windy though!
Up in the Lakes, Amanda Wilson did the lovely Keswick parkrun, which starts and finishes at the old Railway Station, highly recommended if you’re ever in the area! Sally, Steve and Hannah Cartwright had another go at Dishley, with all three of them getting PBs – well done team Cartwright! :)
At Wollaton Hall Liz Phillips, Paul Phillips, Alex Hall, Matt Henning & I had a lovely run at this beautiful setting, with Matt loving it so much he did an extra 3 miles as warm up!
The last of the tourist trips, and by far the furthest distance, Paul Roome did a nice steady one at Glen River parkrun in Cork, Ireland! (I noticed that first place was a Long Eaton RC runner!) Paul’s taking on the Cork Marathon today, so good luck mate!
Elsewhere back in the local area we had lots of Striders running and Luke Bremmer & Ian Crompton volunteering at Alvaston – thanks lads! Also at Alvaston, Brian Thomas & Steve Oliver both got course PB’s too! Well done!
