The format of the event was to gain as many points as possible within 4 hours by visiting as many controls. These were randomly placed at remote locations on the fells and moors to the north of Tintwistle (nr Glossop), and only traditional map and compass navigation was allowed.
Four Striders took part, running in 2 pairs. Carolyn and Chris Hopkinson scored 230 points to finish 9th in the Mixed Vet 50 Category. Emma Roe and Andy Brooks scored 370 points to finish 2nd in the Mixed Vet 40 Category; although, having scored the same points as the category winners, were a little frustrated to be nudged into 2nd by their rivals achieving their score 33 seconds quicker. Lesson learnt: read the small print in the rules that says time counts if scores are equal, so you know not to saunter into the finish to just arrive within 4 hour cut off.
