Bolton Hill Marathon – 2nd June 2018

The official description of this event reads:-

One of the toughest in the UK although suitable for all abilities with a generous 8 hour time limit the Bolton Hill Marathon route follows some of the most beautiful trails and Country Roads on the West Pennine Moors taking you up and over Winter Hill, past White Coppice and along the famous Anglezarke Reservoir, past Rivington Pike and Barn and through Barrow Bridge village.

Just one Strider went along – and yes, it was Bill Mitchell. The previous oldest runner record had been a 69 year old in 7:21:23 and, yes, Bill beat that record on both counts! At 73 he took nearly 1:40:00 out of that record with a time of 5:48:27! [The winner took 3:07:39 – THAT’S how tough this marathon is!]

Excellent running once again Bill, well done!!
